Deer farming and recording hinds since1983. Focus on trophy through use of AI since 1988. In Te Anau running 900 hinds with 400 fully recorded, and now on our Kaikoura retirement block of 115 ha (effective) with 250 fully recorded hinds. Still AI 60 hinds a year. Temperament, fertility, and performance have always been main selection goals. It is our 1st on farm Stag and 15mth Hind Sale but there are years of selection and recording behind the scenes. Something for everyone. Come along enjoy the scenery and crayfish.

Arawata

Arawata is a partnership between Geoff & Diane Gill, who farm at Otahuti, Southland & John & Mel Somerville, who farm at Pine Bush , Southland. Both farms are farmed entirely separately, we just share Sires & combine our sale animals for our annual on farm sales.

Brock Deer

Hello and welcome to Brock Deer for the 7th Annual Stag and Hind Sale. Once again this year our sire and sale stags have raised the bar to a level which was once thought impossible. This year we have our first crop of Oakley (8.6kg @ 5) 2yr old stags, including our heaviest ever 2yr old stag; Y770 at 6.4kg SA2. The Swazi, Ice, Gandalf and Whiskey sons also continue to bolster the sale line-up with many more impressive 2yr olds coming through. Once again we will offer a variety of top quality Velvet, Trophy and Venison genetics, enabling you to select the animals that are most suited to your particular operation. We continue to farm our stud stock commercially, allowing our deer to perform to a high standard at their new homes. Rodway Park Ltd

Rodway Park is a red deer stud which was established in 1998 in Gladstone, Wairarapa. In September 2003 Rodway Park Ltd was formed and a move made to the current site in Rotorua. At this time Rachael & Andy Mitchell amalgamated the Kaimai Red Deer stud into the buisness which was owned by Maurice & Anne O’Reilly. The combined operation is owned by the Mitchell’s and the O’Reilly’s. Rodway Park Ltd also manages one of Bob Atkinson’s Sarnia Deer herds, with hinds and stags being sold through the sale ring, alongside Rodway’s, in December and July each year.

Tikana Wapiti Stud

Tikana Wapiti Stud was established in 1984 with the importation of our foundation sire “Reginald” from Clearstone Farm in Canada. One hundred acres at Browns in central Southland has been home for the stud since 1996. Tikana has made huge gains in performance over the last two decades with new technologies being utilized in management and strategic genetic input. A share in Blue 116, when Sir Tim Wallis sold him, was a big boost to our stud in the 1990’s. Further genetic input has been by annual use of AI using the best genetics available from North America (when it was possible) and subsequently from within New Zealand. The culmination of our efforts saw our 6yr old stud sire “Trilogy” this year produce a New Zealand record head of velvet – 22.3kg.

Windermere Red Deer

Windermere Red Deer Stud is situated just south-west of Hamilton in the central North Island of New Zealand. The stud farms approximately 450 deer specialising in the highest quality Warnham Park and Woburn Abbey genetics. Thirty four stud auctions have been held at the onsite Sales Complex since 1990. Female sales are held in July selling in-fawn hinds and weaner hinds, and Sire stag sales are held in early January each year. Windermere Stud is leading the NZ Deer Industry with outstanding velvet weights and the breeding of record trophy stags.
